SM Playreaders starts the New Year rolling with some great entertainment!
The January, 2025 Playreaders is “Good Morning, Bill”, a comedy by PG Wodehouse, an
English humorist who created such iconic characters as Jeeves, Bertie Wooster, Mr Mulliner. His
was the humor of geniality, of kindheartedness. It was his use of the English language, mixing
formal locutions with slang to produce hilariously unexpected results, that gave his readers such
delight. People new to Wodehouse are quick to appreciate his important message of learning to
get along with one another in a kindhearted manner. Wodehouse wrote thirty-three musicals and
eighteen straight plays. “Good Morning, Bill” was first produced in 1927 in London.
I believe this is the first time a play of his has been produced in San Miguel. I hope you
enjoy it as much as we have bringing it to you.
Our cast is a collection of veterans of Playreaders and some newcomers I am privileged
to work with. Steven Michael, Gene Harvey, RD Hunting, Rick Franz, Alix Nicoll, Susan
Rushton and Marthe Fraser. Jan Loos will be teleprompter, and Miguel Torres will do lights and
sounds.
